Age of Dogfights: WWII

Created by Forsage Games

A fast-paced, realistic simulation of WWII aerial combat. ____________________________________________________ The basic game will be shipped in the Wave 1. All other items (expansions, add-ons, etc.) will be shipped later – in the Wave 2. A separate shipping fee will be charged for each shipping wave, calculated by the package weight (using customary units - oz): <17oz (~0,5kg) = $18 <35oz (~1,0kg) = $20 <52oz (~1,5kg) = $22 <70oz (~2,0kg) = $24 <88oz (~2,5kg) = $26 <105oz (~3,0kg) = $28 <123oz (~3,5kg) = $31 <141oz (~4,0kg) = $33 <158oz (~4,5kg) = $35 <176oz (~5,0kg) = $37 >176oz (>5kg) = $41

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Pledge manager has started
over 3 years ago – Mon, Sep 27, 2021 at 06:21:50 AM

We prepared everything a couple of days ago, but we had an issue with the shipping fee calculation system. Despite BackerKit support's willingness to help, we couldn't get everything to work as intended. This is the case if you have pledged for a physical copy of the game and want to add another basic game as an add-on – two separate fees would apply to the two copies of the basic game (which would both be shipped in Wave 1).

However, there is a way to avoid this. If you want to order multiple copies of the basic game, please follow the instructions at the following link:

How to avoid unnecessary shipping fee: multiple copies of the Basic game

As we have announced, to make the production process simpler, to avoid the requirement of additional storage space and to be able to ship the basic game sooner, we will perform the shipping in two waves – first to produce and ship the basic game only, and afterwards to produce and ship all the expansions (and add-ons).

However, the two shipping waves inevitably make the total shipping fee a bit higher. If you want to save on shipping fee* by receiving everything in a single package in Wave 2, please follow the instructions at the following link:

How to get everything in Wave 2 (and save on shipping fee!)

* This means if you order any add-ons (expansions or other items). If you don't want to add anything to your Kickstarter pledge, there is no difference in shipping fee if the basic game is shipped in Wave 1 or Wave 2.

Reminder: Gifts

All returning backers will get Special German Aerial Weapons expansion as a Loyalty Gift, and all backers with the backer number #482 or lower will get Advanced German Aircraft expansion as a First Day Gift for free. Keep that in mind when purchasing add-ons, if you don't want to get two of these.

Pre-order Store

The pre-order store is open:

Important: Kickstarter backers should complete the survey through the link sent by email from BackerKit, not through the pre-order store. In the survey, you will be able to select all add-ons.

Stretch Goals

The funds collected through BackerKit will count towards unlocking the remaining stretch goals.

Pledge manager and pre-order (BackerKit) starting soon
over 3 years ago – Wed, Sep 15, 2021 at 09:48:11 PM

We published the previous update immediately after the end of the campaign. A lot of time has passed since then, and we partially used it for vacation, but also for work on the production of Panzer Strike games, as previously planned and announced. All plastic elements (stands and sliders) for the game AoD2 have also been produced since we already have plastic injection tools from the previous project (AoD1). The production of the remaining elements for AoD2 will follow in the coming days.

We announced the pledge manager for September. It turns out that there is a lot of preparation work to be done because of many expansions and add-ons that need to be shown on the BackerKit page. That work is nearing completion and the pledge manager will begin in a few days. All backers will receive an email from BackerKit with the survey link.

As we announced during the campaign, this project will include all relevant aircraft that participated in WW2. Since the basic game includes planes from the second half of the war in Western Europe (Germany, Great Britain, and the USA), all other battlefields and planes will be featured in various expansions. Since the war lasted for a long time and it was fought on almost the entire globe, it is not possible to prepare all the expansions at once. Therefore, we plan to launch two more Kickstarter campaigns in the coming period (probably by the end of 2022) in which we will offer another 7-8 expansions: Spanish Civil War, Winter War, Second Sino-Japanese War, 1930s, Late 1940s, Experimental Aircraft, Fantastic German Projects, etc.

So, this time on BackerKit, we will offer 5 expansions that include all the most important battlefields - Pacific Theater, Eastern Front, African Campaign, Battle of Britain and Blitzkrieg. In addition, there are three 'mini' expansions that contain a slightly smaller number of aircraft packed in a smaller box - Advanced German Aircraft, Special German Aerial Weapons and Transport Aircraft and Gliders, of which the first two are gifts that many backers will receive as a first-day gift and a loyalty gift.

There will be five 'micro' expansions with additional aircraft (aircraft tokens and control panels, without a box) - American Bombers, British Bombers, British Fighters, Mosquitos, German Fighters. Future Kickstarter campaigns will have more of these.

After a detailed study of individual battlefields, we made the final lists of aircraft for each expansion. The lists will be presented on BackerKit in the description of each expansion. Backers will notice that some notable aircraft types have been left out. For example, Japan had many aircraft types both in the Army and in the Navy. We have made a selection of aircraft types for the expansion of the Pacific Theater, and the remaining types will be present in the expansion: "Additional Japanese Aircraft" which will be part of a future Kickstarter campaign. The same principle applies to the Italian and French planes. As before, we will be open to all suggestions during these additional Kickstarter campaigns, so we believe that Age of Dogfights will eventually cover all relevant aircraft and that the backers will help us achieve that.

During the campaign, we announced as many as 10 stretch goals, out of which 7 were reached. The remaining stretch goals can still be unlocked, with funds raised in the pledge manager and pre-order on BackerKit.

The game AoD:WWII has been in our focus in the previous period, even during the vacations, as we had everyday discussions on the topic which resulted in new ideas on how to make the game even more realistic. In addition to small tweaks and additions to the rules, this also means some additional hardware components. More details will follow in one of the future updates.

Thank you!

We were close to reaching the magic number of 1000 bakers, but we are certainly very satisfied in any case. There would have probably been a few more backers tonight, but football fans were watching the European Championship finals on TV. We use the opportunity to congratulate the Italians on the title of European champion, and the English deserve all the praise for a great game.

We thank all the backers for their support. This was a great campaign in which we had great communication with you. We will do our best to justify your trust and deliver all rewards on time.

You will be notified in a timely manner about the start of the pledge manager. Follow our updates.

CONTROL PANELS
over 3 years ago – Thu, Jul 08, 2021 at 06:47:25 AM

The final version of rules for the game AoD:WWII has not been written yet. The rules will be based on the AoD:WWI game for which we have received a lot of positive comments from gamers around the world. In preparation for this campaign, we made a dozen demo sets of AoD:WWII, and we shipped them to several addresses. The gamers who got this game sent us their impressions, comments and suggestions, which will mean a lot to us when making the final rules.

We also received many comments related to some characteristics assigned to the aircraft. We have considered all the remarks and comments, primarily referring to the values of the weapons of individual fighters. We have now adjusted some values, so that the fighters armed with cannons get higher values. The latest layout of the control panels for all aircraft is shown in the images below. This version is not final either, and before printing, we will once again reconsider all the aircraft characteristics.

Among the planes we announced is the American scout RB-26C. This designation was used only after the end of WWII, and before that it was called FA-26C. However, this version was not in use during WWII, but later, in the Korean War and Vietnam War. Therefore, instead of the RB-26C Invader, the basic game will feature a reconnaissance version of the A-20 Havoc: F-3A.

We have also adjusted some of the values in the Firing chart, and the new version can be seen below:

We decided to provide five blue dice per set instead of four, with the following numbers:

New shape of tilt compensators

In this game, in addition to the possibility of tilting the token up or down ("pitch tilt"), we introduced a new variant of tilt – "roll", in which the aircraft is tilted to the side. These two types of tilt can also be combined (for example climbing + turning). In the very rare case when one plane needs to be positioned at a point on the board already occupied by another aircraft (but at a different altitude), and the lower aircraft is tilted, a tilt compensator is used. The compensators that were in the AoD:WWI game and in the demo version of this game are not adapted to the new "roll" tilt, so we solved the problem by designing a new, universal tilt compensator.
